The Story of Cally Collective

As you all know, this past year was ROUGH.  Although I have continued going into my office through the pandemic and was able to still interact with people, not being able to hang out with friends and family  was making me feel pretty down.  I love making art  and crafting, and I wanted to start a new project to help keep my mind off of the crazy world.  While surfing the web one day I came across clay earrings.  I loved the way they looked.  There were neutral ones, colorful ones, and all different kinds of fun shapes, patterns, and textures. I was browsing through etsy trying to decide which ones to purchase, then I thought why don’t I try to make some myself? How hard could it be?

Let me tell you it was not as easy as I thought.  After some failed attempts and research on the internet I started to figure out things like which clays are better then others for earring making, and the right time and temperature to bake the earrings at. After months of making earrings there are still some fails, but that’s how I learn what works and what doesn’t.

I was having a ton of fun making earrings but couldn’t wear them all, and thats when I decided to open up an etsy shop!  I am sure most of you know what etsy is, but for those who don’t, it is an ecommerce website where people sell handmade products, craft supplies, vintage items and more.  Etsy makes it really easy to start a shop and start selling products so it was perfect for me.

The name “Cally Collective” came from combining my name, Caroline, along with my sister’s name, Molly.  Although I do all the earring making, My sister molly, who works a full time job as a marketing manager, is helping me with the marketing side of the business.

This year I can’t wait to expand Cally Collective and continue to sell earrings as well as other products!  I have a background in fine art and graphic design, so I look forward to bringing some of that work into the shop through art prints!
